We are delighted to annouce that we are Dark Skies Friendly Durham Accredited.
The dark skies above our lodges are stunning, and did you know binoculars are much better for star gazing than a telescope?
So we can provide you binoculars and an introductory map to get you started, and there's some great apps for you to download before you arrive such as star Walk 2 and Stellarium.
We've been able to see Mars and Venus and several of her moons, even when it hasn't been that clear, and we're convinced we saw the milky way the other night...but come and judge for yourself.
If that all that sounds like too much hard work, you can just lie back in the hot tub and take in the stunning starry view.
But, if it whets your appetite and you want to explore further we are the gateway to some of the darkest skies in England, with many of the star gazing sites less than 30 minutes drive of our lodges.
