I came to painting later in life, at a time when I was beginning to understand myself in a new way following my late diagnosis of autism.

Painting has become much more than a creative practice. It is a way of navigating the anxiety, overwhelm and complexity that can accompany experiencing the world differently, while helping me make sense of my own perspective.

My approach is intuitive and deeply personal. I rarely begin with a fixed subject or a predetermined outcome. Instead, I allow emotions, thoughts and sensations to guide the work. Colour, texture, movement and layers become a language of their own, enabling me to express what words cannot always convey.

Painting gives me space to slow down, release expectations and simply be present. It helps me process emotions, quieten the noise and find moments of calm within the overwhelm. Through the act of painting, I transform internal experiences into something tangible, allowing uncertainty and feeling to take shape on the canvas.

My work is not concerned with perfection or prescribed rules. It is rooted in exploration, honesty and the freedom to respond intuitively to what emerges. Each painting becomes part of an ongoing process of self-discovery: a way of finding my voice, embracing who I am and transforming life’s challenges into something creative and meaningful.

I believe it is never too late to discover a practice that brings meaning, connection and joy. For me, painting has become that practice—a space for reflection, expression and possibility. Each work is a small piece of that continuing journey.
